A new family house in suburban Kent, in dark brick and timber.
A new family house on a quiet residential street in Bromley, replacing an earlier property on the same plot. The brief was for a generous family home that didn't announce itself — something private from the road, open at the back, and built to outlast the trend that built it.
The composition is two stacked rectangular volumes in dark brick, broken only by deep-set narrow windows and a recessed timber-clad entrance. Materials are deliberately restrained: brick, timber, glass. The house sits low against its neighbours and is set well back behind a planted front garden, leaving the street view as quiet as the buildings beside it.
A second house on the same lane sits alongside, designed in the same language.
